Worlds of Opportunity

The Spark for Future Careers

As parents and teachers, we all want to set our children up for career success. Worlds of Opportunity affords such a possibility by connecting middle school students with local employers from across the Lynchburg region to learn about in-demand jobs.

The annual “hands on” career fair in the Lynchburg region brings together some of the area’s largest employers across nuclear energy, metals & steel, financial services, advanced manufacturing and the trades. Whether a student’s interest lies in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), healthcare or construction, Worlds of Opportunity ignites passions and creates pathways to the careers of tomorrow.

Worlds of Opportunity primarily inspires younger students, but recent graduates often have a seat at the table too — and the Lynchburg region offers plenty of additional resources for those ready to enter the workforce. Virginia Career Works Central Region and Central Virginia Community College regularly host career fairs, as do major regional employers like Centra Health.

Students and alumni of local institutions can also tap into specialized events hosted by their own colleges — Liberty University, for example, offers major-based career fairs designed to connect its talent directly with recruiters. The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance adds another layer of support through LYH Connect and its partnership with the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership, helping regional talent find their next role.
