The Lynchburg region leads the nuclear industry in Virginia for hiring and employment concentration. Currently, more than 4,500 workers are employed in fields like engineering, software development, systems analysis, and project management. According to a recent study of the regional industry, nuclear businesses in Lynchburg have growing needs for industrial production managers and production operations roles.

Such a large employment concentration doesn’t happen by chance. Two of the nation’s largest nuclear companies, Framatome and BWX Technologies, have their U.S. headquarters in the city of Lynchburg. Framatome recently invested $49.4 million to expand its facility, creating 515 new jobs, while BWX Technologies continues to innovate in naval nuclear manufacturing and advanced technologies.

Additionally, nuclear infrastructure employers like Delta Star (power transformers), Parker Hannifin (sealing systems), and Flowserve (pumps and valves) also operate in the Lynchburg region — creating a robust ecosystem for nuclear industry hiring.
