From your first classroom exploration to hands-on training and college-ready coursework, the Lynchburg region’s school districts open the door to your future career well before graduation. Career & technical education programs let students explore real fields of interest, build practical skills through hands-on training, and even earn dual enrollment credit that counts toward college, giving every student a head start on the path to their dream job.

Lynchburg City Schools’ Career & Technical Education program prepares students for high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers, with job prep that includes internships, job shadowing, externships, and apprenticeships, plus dual enrollment opportunities that let motivated students earn both high school and college credit through the University of Lynchburg or Central Virginia Community College.

In Campbell County, the Technical Center offers hands-on training in fields like auto body repair, auto technology, carpentry, and electricity, giving students real trade skills alongside their diploma.

Bedford County Public Schools takes a similarly broad approach, with CTE course offerings organized into seven major program areas — including Agriculture, Business and Information Technology, Health and Medical Sciences, and Trade and Industrial fields — supported by growing opportunities for dual enrollment and internships with local business partners.

Amherst and Appomattox counties round out the region with their own CTE programs, each designed to connect students with in-demand careers close to home. Together, these programs give every student in the Lynchburg region a head start on the path to their dream job.
