Finding the right fit for your little ones shouldn’t feel like a guessing game. In our region, the Virginia Department of Social Services makes the process transparent with a digital search tool that filters by zip code and city. The tool allows families to make truly informed decisions based on insights into licensing, compliance history, facility capacity, and more.

Residents and organizations throughout the Lynchburg region believe in looking out for one another. Local communities collaborate through organizations like HumanKind, a wrap-around non-profit offering free, full-time childcare for infants and toddlers in the Lynchburg area. This program focuses on the “whole child” — promoting physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development for those aged three and younger. HumanKind recently opened its federally funded Early Head Start program in the region, ensuring working families have the professional support and high-quality care they need right in their own neighborhood.
